Some weekends flow like a smooth river of play, others stop and start, staccato in their movement. Sometimes it's out of your control how it moves, you've just got to hang on and survive the ride. Last weekend, thankfully, was a lot of fun and it made me so grateful to be a part of my boy's lives.
The sun was out, that was a MAJOR blessing. Life just seems so much better when it's warm don't you find?
I planted the seed (ahem) to the boys that we should look at recycling the dilapidated little wheelbarrow in our garden. Perhaps we could turn it into a flower bed? Good thinking Mum. So off we went. Finding a sale on at our local garden centre, we got a little carried away with our flower and veggie choices, but who could resist sweet strawberries, butternut pumpkins and some sort of fancy yellow tomato variety? Oh and did I mention the pansies?
The boys got a free pair of gardening gloves and planted some off looking peas, while I navigated through the crowd to find the right kind of stinky fertiliser. We packed the boot with satisfaction and off we went to our next adventure.
A local school fair beckoned and we had a fun few hours bumping into pals, tossing gum boots and sampling tasty home made banana ice cream. The mountain smiled down on us all and we fell home, with just enough energy left to welcome our new seedlings into our garden. Now the trick will be to guide the boys through the unknown territory of WAITING and watching and WAITING some more, until their seeds shoot up to become delicious veggies to eat. Now whose turn was it again to water them tomorrow....?
