One of our little friends broke her leg recently and is getting around in a wheelchair. Apart from being a major test of patience for this almost 6 year old, can you imagine not being able to run around THIS place? I have to say I am so grateful for the boys physical health. It was a great lesson for them on how to be considerate and caring towards their pal and for me on how to savour the good things in life.
While on a tour of the lamb filled fields, we discovered two lonely little babies who'd obviously lost their Mums. Returning home but unable to leave them behind to suffer, my gorgeous friend and my hero husband returned to the paddock to rescue the two lambs. We worried about one in particular but thanks to her farming background and a few tips from her Dad, our prize animal rescuer managed to feed and warm the little darlings by the fire. Did they survive? Indeed they did and are now bleating happily in the garden of our heroes! I'll be the first to admit I am a failure when it comes to anything like this, and surely showed my suburban upbringing to all. But what it impressed on me was the importance of some basic principles. Love, care, selflessness and kindness. What amazing lessons for the kids to learn this weekend.
